Clubhouse farewell 30 October 2022 – we’re demolishing our building

Sadly we are set to demolish the clubhouse building and it’s only fitting that we give it one last hoorah.

Sunday 30th October 12.30pm

We invite all Paekākāriki community members, surf club members past and present, to join us from 12.30pm on Sunday 30th October to formally farewell the building that has served us for the better half of a century.

Join us for a formal blessing of the site (1pm), followed by a sausage sizzle, a few fun activities for the kids, as well as a full-club training session (IRBs, Nippers, Boaties, Crafties and Masters) from 2pm.

What does this mean for the upcoming season?

This season we will be operating out of our “container city”. We also have working toilets and showers on site in a container unit plus other containers for storage. We will again use the container donated by Black Dog Consulting as our lifeguard tower.

When is it being demolished?

Quality Demolition are scheduled to demolish the building for us by year-end. Exact date tbc. They recently reviewed the building and it looks like we will be able to demo it in 2 stages to allow for keeping the downstairs portion of the building for storage while the project is underway.

Huge fundraising effort ahead

Without a building for the first time in over a century, we’re now tasked with a huge effort to fundraise for the new building. We are on the lookout for financial support, business and services, and regular donations via our Givealittle, to help us reach our funding milestones.

Please reach out if you’re able to offer any support, or connect us with people who can.

We’d like to give you the opportunity to be part of our ‘1913 Club’ and in doing so, help create our future. Members of the 1913 Club will support the redevelopment project by making a regular, on-going financial contribution to the Club of $19.30 – that’s less than 5 coffees a week!.

Your contribution of $19.30 can be set up as a repeating donation and be made weekly, fortnightly or monthly. All donations are Tax Deductible. There is no minimum time period and you can stop your payment at any time. However we’ll be thanking long term members of the club with exclusive items, such as the 1913 Club Hat, as milestones are met.

We’d really appreciate your support, so if you are willing to join the 1913 Club please donate here. If you have any questions or want another way to give, please contact Sarah on pslnippers@gmail.com
