New Building Update October

We’ve had a lot of milestones in the build project since the last club newsletter. The building is taking shape and Homestead are on track to complete stage one of the build early in the new year.

At the club open day we will be giving people the chance to take a tour around the outside of the building to see the progress to date up close and personal. This is an awesome opportunity to see how far we have come, and to get a real sense of the benefits the clubhouse will give to the club and to the community once complete. Look out for the orange high-vis vests and come and take a tour with members of the Building sub-committee.

Over the last couple of weeks the structural steel has gone up, the trusses have all been put in place, and now the roof is starting to go up too. The concrete for the public toilet block has also been completed. Detailed planning has begun for the installation of the septic system that will support both the public toilets and the clubhouse. This will mean more ground works in the park, so we will make sure to keep the community updated about when these are going to take place.

Here are the big upcoming milestones to look out for on site. Remember these are planned, but subject to change so keep following our site updates on social media to keep up to date:

  • Roof on – late October/early November
  • Septic system installation (ground works) – November/December (tbc)
  • Public toilet and outdoor shower fit out – late December
  • Closed in – January 2025
  • Fit out stages earliest start (subject to fundraising!) – early 2025

Following our AGM, we committed to providing updates on future stages of our build project and providing opportunities for members to join the building committee for these stages. The Building Committee has been working with Homestead to look into how best to stage the fit out of the building.  Our plan for fitting out the building includes the following stages, in order of priority:

  • Stage 2 – fit out of the downstairs storage spaces and briefing space, as well as electrical, fire and security systems.
  • Stage 3 – the first aid room and patrol space.
  • Stage 4 – the club bathrooms and changing rooms.
  • Stage 5 – the community space, including the kitchen and bar.

We’re looking for expressions of interest to help with Stage 2. In particular, we’re interested in any members who have skills or expertise in cabinet making, or anything else that might help us create storage solutions for our gear.

If you’re interested, please get in touch with Matt (0274757323) or Henry (0275388999)
