Thank you to everyone who helped out at the working bee
A huge thank you also to everyone who turned out for the working bee on the 30th of March. We achieved a huge amount that day, including removing the remaining fencing in the park, constructing a fence around the septic system, and generally tidying up the site of rubbish and weeds and making it safe.
A special thank you to Ben, Eleanor and PJ for the diggers and truck used to shift the earth from the old site as backfill in the yard! This was a huge effort and goes a long way to making the storage spaces usable.
What’s next?
In the coming months, we’ll be completing more of the project with the aim of moving out of the containers and into the new site. Work going on includes:
- Designing and constructing storage solutions for the storage spaces
- Further backfilling around the site to ensure access to those areas that will be in use
- Undertaking a few more working bees to plant the irrigation field that was fenced in December. We will be in touch with club members and the wider community for this event once confirmed.
Most significantly, with the additional funding that has come through from the Fundraising Committee and our sponsors, we will be looking into fitting out the locker rooms and showers on the ground floor of the building.
As always, if you have any skills or trade experience that you can offer, please get in touch with Henry (027 538 8999) or Matt (027 475 7323).
