Mills-Albert Limited finished the earthworks, gravel rafting, and site-scaping last week. Our gravel raft foundations have been tested and ticked off by the engineers. They’ve also compacted and tidied up the tracks between the site and beach, and shaped the sand castle behind the current club. This will be mulched and stored here until it’s needed for reshaping dunes, later in the project.
Homestead Construction Ltd have now taken over the site and are setting up to receive the concrete panels that will make up the building shell. You’ll see in the photos what it takes to pour our concrete walls in their Levin factory, and the massive stack needed to build our clubhouse!
This week, Homestead are digging the strip footings and have the concrete trucks coming in Wednesday to pour the strips. All in preparation for the walls to be stood up in a couple of weeks time. They will also be installing the power cables early next week and security systems for the site. Thanks to Prysmian for their generous discount on cabling.
The Construction Committee has a meeting with Homestead on Tuesday morning – we are well into the swing of things now and it’s exciting to see such swift progress.
