About us

We're a volunteer surf lifesaving club on the Kāpiti Coast, just north of Wellington, with a community of over 200 members spanning juniors through to our most experienced lifeguards.

Keeping our coast safe

Our 100+ active lifeguards patrol Paekākāriki Beach every summer. We're there for the 800,000+ people who visit Queen Elizabeth Park each year, provide water safety support at events and when anyone's in trouble at sea anywhere on the Kāpiti Coast, we're the first call.

Growing the next generation

Our junior surf programme introduces over 100 Nippers to surf skills each season. It's where kids fall in love with the ocean and start their journey - many go on to become our future lifeguards.

Surf Sport

Summer brings competition! Our members compete locally, nationally, and internationally across a huge range of surf sport disciplines - including surf boats and IRB, as well as national pool competitions. 

Our new clubrooms - Haumia

We have a proud history of serving our community and will officially be opening our new clubrooms, blessed with the name Haumia by Ngāti Toa Rangitira and Ngāti Haumi, on 17 October 2026 ahead of the 2026/27 season.

We're looking forward to Haumia being the home of Paekākāriki Surf Lifeguards, and a place for the community to come together, for generations to come.
