Surf Sport at Paekakariki

Information on Winter Training 2015 is over here...

Surf Sports are an integral part of life saving at Paekakariki Surf Lifeguards.

Training for, and participation in Surf Sports enables Lifeguards to improve their lifesaving skills, fitness, and motivation. Once past Nipper age (14 years) all members must be trained, refreshed and active lifeguards to compete in Surf Sports.

There are a large variety of beach and water activities involved in Surf Sport disciplines including: swim, board, ski, run, canoe, surf boat and inflatable rescue boat (IRB). Surf Sport events are held over the summer providing local, national and international competition for Surf Sport Lifeguards. There are also national pool competitions where members compete in swimming, rescue, and obstacle races.

Paekakariki SL has a proud history in surf sports, over the years numerous club members have held national titles.  The club can also boast very experienced coaches who dedicate and volunteer a considerable amount of their time to improving the surf skills of all our members. Currently we have a strong group of champions but it is not all about winning for our club, we encourage participation and enjoying yourself while competing.
