Nipper News, 6 March 2013

Posted by Elyse Robert on Wednesday, 6 March 2013

Hi there

What a gorgeous day we had on Sunday at Nippers, it was awesome to see so many kids out on the water having fun in the sun.

Just a wee note to keep you posted on Nipper info for the year, we have 2 more Sunday nipper sessions, the 10th and 17th of March.  Our Nipper session on 17th March will be our club champs day, this will start at normal Nippers time of 1:45 p.m. and run like a mini carnival.  There are trophies for each age group, male and female so it's definitely worth having a crack at them!  After club champs we will have a BBQ, we will provide sausages, families to provide salads and desserts J.

There are also 2 more pool sessions left this season, the 7th and 14th March.

In case you didn't catch up on our Oceans results we had a team of 17 go away to Mount Maunganui representing Paekakariki and all did us proud. There was some huge surf and completing any event in the sea was real character building stuff but we are very pleased to say all our Nippers did that J

We had some great successes with Katie Trott winning Gold in the U14 Surf Race and a bronze in the U14 Diamond.  Ishmael Perkins Banse won a silver medal in the U13 flags and Tallulah O'Neill had an awesome race to win a bronze medal in the U11 Surf Race. Almost 800 kids from all over the country competed at the event so competition was tough.

We also had:

  • ·         Josie Dixon made finals in Sprints, Swim and Board,
  • ·         Nic Cecioni was in finals of Surf Race and Run Swim Run,
  • ·         Ishy also made sprint final,
  • ·         Hamish Mansell was in Sprint final,
  • ·         Florrie Dixon was in Board Final,
  • ·         Charlotte Meyer along with Tallulah were also in Run Swim Run final.
  • ·         Our U11 relay team of Lincoln Amaru, Hamish Mansell, Millie Ireland Spicer and Aneeka Craig were in the relay finals.

Awesome stuff!

Our Seniors are off to their Nationals at Mount Maunganui this weekend and we wish them good luck.  This will mean we will be a bit light on helpers this Sunday so please everyone pitch in.

Regards
