Hi there
This Sunday, 17th March are our Nipper Club
Champs. These will start at the normal Nipper time of 1:45
pm. This will be the last Nipper day for the 2012/13
season.
Club champs will run similar to a normal carnival but much
smaller and quicker. Our 7 to 9 yr olds will do flags,
sprints, run wade run and boogie board races. The 10 yrs and
over will do flags, sprints, surf race, boards and diamond.
There are trophies for each age group, boys and girls, points
from each event will contribute to the overall club champion in
each age group. Trophies will awarded at our prize giving
which will be held on May 4th. Each Nipper can
only contest one age group, i.e. some of our 9 yr olds who have
been competing as 10 yr olds have the choice of which age group
they want to compete in. They can't compete in 2 age
groups. As well as trophies for age groups there is also a
Surf Race/Swim trophy for boys and one for girls, the Surf Race for
this trophy will be a true Surf Race distance, i.e. longer than the
Surf Race for the 10 and 11 year olds.
After the club champs we will have a club BBQ, we will provide
sausages, families who wish to eat at the BBQ are asked to bring
Salad and/or Dessert J. We think the club champs should
be finished around 4 pm, with us eating around 5 pm (don't hold me
to that if it all goes wrong), current weather forecast has some
rain for Sunday, some will be happy about that but not us who want
one last sunny Nipper day. We are unlikely to cancel club
champs for rain, only for severe surf conditions. If we do
cancel I'll put a note on Facebook by 12:30 on Sunday
afternoon.
A couple of housekeeping things:
Trophies: Trophies won at last year club champs are needed
back now, please return on Sunday to trophy cabinet upstairs.
Capital Coast Champs Ribbons: Does anyone have a stash of
ribbons from the Capital Coast champs? Word is they were in
the back pack of a Lisa???
Any clues would be appreciated J
Our Seniors did well at Nationals. Seth (who has been a great
help for us at Nippers but now works on a Sunday L) won a
fantastic Silver medal in the U19 Flags, this was a really, really
tense event and nail biting to the end, Seth showed what a great
competitor he is in the flags and always portrayed great
sportsmanship for the poor competitors he eliminated along the
way. Tem also did well in this event, finishing
7th. Seth, Tem, Kurtis and Tyler combined to win
bronze in the U19 Beach Relay, another great result.
Looking forward to seeing you all at club champs on Sunday .
Regards
