Hope you all had great school holidays and enjoyed a break of
some kind or other. 4th school term means SURF
SEASON is about to start!!! So as a reminder we have our open
day on Sunday 28th October, 2 p.m.
The plan is to have the kids doing some fun activities on the
beach with Lynnie and other volunteer coaches. All going well
we will get the kids in a circuit type setting with IRB rides
being one of the activities. Bring clothes for water
and sand, kids won't be venturing too far out into water but may
get a wee bit wet (if weather is kind to us). There will also
be a Big Dig, sossies and drinks for sale. We don't need kids
to come upstairs prior to the fun stuff on the beach.
Whilst kids are occupied on the beach adults can come upstairs,
check their registration details, ask questions etc and pay
subs. Our fees are $50 for first Nipper in family, $30 for
each subsequent Nipper or $100 family registration (family covers
adults and kids in same household). We will be there all
afternoon so don't panic if there is a bit of a queue, we will get
a chance to talk to you if you have any queries and we will gladly
accept your money. If your child has previously been a member
of the club and they have a surf registration number all you need
to do is check that we have their contact details and birth dates
all correct. If new to the club we do need you to register
online via the SLSNZ website and click the "join a club"
section. If you are not sure if your kids are already
registered, drop me an email and I can confirm for you. If at
any time you have registered online you don't have to do that
again, your details will still be on the database.
Our first pool session will be on Thursday
1st November, 7 p.m. at Raumati Pool.
Our last Thursday night Board training will be on
25th October, we will hopefully get a different
night of the week sorted for these extra training sessions to
continue, we will keep you posted on that.
The NZ Pool Champs held during the holidays went well for the
club and in particular we had a whole bunch of Nippers being very
successful. Leading the way for us was Tallaluh O'Neill who won 2
golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. She was awesome and then along
with Petra Bishop, Grace McCarthy and Charlotte Meyer she won
another Bronze in the brick relay. Our great bunch of 10 and
11 year boys being Sean Allan, Findlay Harper, Max Wong, Aidan
Henry and Lincoln Amaru teamed up brilliantly to win 1 silver and 2
bronze medals in relay events. Finn O'Neill won a
bronze medal in the individual rescue and then teamed up with
Cameron Simpson, Katie Trott and Sarah Warren to win another bronze
in the rescue relay. We had lots of other good results with
nippers getting high placings and points for the club.
We have our website pretty much up to date with important dates
for nippers this year so please visit that to keep up to date with
what's what. http://www.paekakarikisurflifeguards.org.nz/junior-surf/nipper-calendar/
Our Facebook page is also great for other events such as our Guy
Fawkes/Halloween Party on 3rd November,
$5.00 per person includes pizza and marshmallows for the bonfire
on the beach, bring some fireworks to contribute to the 'pot
luck' fireworks display! Prizes for the best costumes. http://www.facebook.com/PaekakarikiSurfLifeguards#!/PaekakarikiSurfLifeguards
