Our first Nippers Surf session will take place on Sunday
28th October. This will also be a
registration day so come armed with cheque book to pay for subs etc
(although we hope to have eftpos sorted for then). Subs are
just being finalised so will let you know soon how much things will
cost, our first pool session will be after that date, more info to
follow.
We are setting up a Junior Surf Committee and welcome anyone
interested to come onto this and help us run our Nippers this
year. We are meeting on Sunday
16th September, 2:30 pm at the club. Please
let us know if you can come along to the meeting or if you are
able to help us in anyway this year. We don't require too
much of your time, mainly help on a Sunday getting Nippers sorted
plus we welcome your input and ideas on how we can do things better
and on how you can help.
On Sunday 23rd September, 2:30 pm we
are holding a Nipper coaches planning meeting at the club. We aim
to get all our coaches for the season together to sort out coaching
structures for the season, if you are interested in helping with
coaching please come along to that meeting.
The next event for us is the State NZ Surf Life Saving Pool
Champs, 5th, 6th and 7th of October at WRAC in
Kilbirnie, Wellington. This is a great, fun event aimed at
the pool swimmers out there but it is open to anyone over 10 years
(age at 1 October). If you are interested in taking part in
these please register your interest with Teri on pete.teri@xtra.co.nz. The first training
session for this is on Sunday 9th Sept, 11
am at Raumati Pool, bring fins (essential for Surf Pool
events), $2 for coaching costs plus normal door entry charge. Jon
Winter is taking these sessions.
If you or your children are now older then Nipper age (i.e. over
14 @ 1st October) your contact details have been
sent onto our Patrol Captain, Rackley Nolan racko@paradise.net.nz, he
will contact you with regards to Life Guard training. Teri is also
our surf sport contact for this age group so she too now has your
contact details to involve you in surf training. If you have
kids in Nippers and Lifeguard age groups you will still receive
emails from me as well as getting info via Teri for the older age
groups.
